The Dutch community
The Dutch Section is more than a school – it's a community. Parents, students, and teachers together form a close-knit Dutch enclave in the heart of Saint-Germain-en-Laye.
A warm welcome
New to France? You're not alone. Every family that joins us is warmly welcomed by existing families. We understand the challenges of an international move and are happy to help each other.
New families are paired with a "buddy family" that has been with the section longer. They help with practical tips about living, shopping, and navigating the French school system.
Events and traditions
Throughout the year, we organize various events that strengthen our community and celebrate Dutch culture:
- Sinterklaas celebration – a highlight for the youngest children
- Dutch literature evening – authors and readings
- King's Day – joint celebration with orange festivities
- Parent evenings – to stay involved in education
- End-of-year concert – students showcase their talents
What parents say
The social network we've found here is priceless. Other Dutch parents were immediately there for us with tips about housing, doctors, and everything you need in a new country.
My children feel at home thanks to the Dutch traditions we celebrate here. From Sinterklaas to King's Day – they don't miss anything of their culture.
Volunteers and parent participation
The Dutch Section largely runs on volunteer efforts from parents. From organizing events to helping in the library – there are many ways to be involved with the school.
The parent association "APLI-NL" bridges parents and school and organizes many of the social activities.
